Before you jump to Caramel Apple Baked French Toast recipe, you may want to read this short interesting healthy tips about Green Living In The Kitchen area Will Save You Cash.

Until fairly recently anyone who expressed concern about the degradation of the environment raised skeptical eyebrows. Those days are over, and it appears we all recognize our role in stopping and possibly reversing the damage being done to our planet. The experts are agreed that we cannot change things for the better without everyone’s active involvement. This needs to happen soon and living in methods more friendly to the environment should become an objective for every individual family. Here are some tips that can help you save energy, primarily by making your kitchen more green.

Start out with changing the light bulbs. Naturally you shouldn’t confine this to only the kitchen area. You need to replace your incandescent lights by using energy-saver, compact fluorescent light bulbs. Although costing a little more in the beginning, these bulbs last as long as ten of the conventional type as well as using a lot less energy. Changing the light bulbs would keep a great deal of bulbs out of the landfills, and that’s good. It goes further than merely replacing the lights, though; turning off lights that aren’t needed is another good thing to do. In the kitchen is where you’ll regularly find members of a family, and often the lights usually are not turned off until the last person goes to bed. And it’s not restricted to the kitchen, it happens in other parts of the house as well. Do an exercise if you like; have a look at the amount of electricity you can save by turning the lights off when you don’t need them.

From the above it really should be clear that just in the kitchen, by itself, there are lots of little opportunities for saving energy and money. Eco-friendly living is not that tough. It’s about being sensible, most of the time.

  13. Use 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
  14. Provide 1 pinch salt
  15. Use 1/2 tbsp cinnamon (optional)
  16. Use 1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)
Instructions to make Caramel Apple Baked French Toast:
  1. Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In a medium sauce pan over med-low heat combine butter, brown sugar, maple syrup and corn syrup. Stir frequently until sugar and butter are completely melted, approx 8 minutes. Core, peel and chop the apples in to small pieces (not too small so you'll still have good texture). Once the caramel is ready add your apples and nuts while still on the heat. Stir until coated then pour the caramel mixture into the prepared baking dish distributing evenly.
  3. Mix the eggs, 1/2 & 1/2, vanilla, salt, syrup and cinnamon together until thoroughly combined. Arrange the sliced bread (I like french) over the caramel in a single layer. Pour the custard over evenly. Cover tightly with foil
  4. At this point you can leave the dish out on the counter for an hour to soak or you can refrigerate it over night. If using the over night method take it out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes prior to baking to come to room temperature.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°. Place the casserole in the oven covered and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the cover and bake an additional 25 to 30 until the top is golden and the center is set. Once baked, allow to cool and set for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  6. Another little extra that I like to do is once the cover comes off I'll sprinkle it with a little extra brown sugar for some texture. Also, its nice to dust it with cinnamon and powdered sugar right before serving. This is a terrific dish for a holiday breakfast, brunch or potluck. Enjoy!
