- Preheat oven to 180° (350°F). In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add milk, egg and cocoa powder. Beat slowly until thoroughly blended. Stir in the flour, baking powder and salt until blended. Stir in walnuts.
- Pour into a buttered and floured baking pan either round or square. Bake for 25 minutes or until the brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
