- Prepare 1 lb ground beef or ground round
- You need 1 large green pepper, chopped
- Get 1 large yellow onion, chopped
- Get 40 oz can of Brooks mild chili beans
- Take 22 oz can of Brooks hot chili beans
- Provide 14 1/2 oz can of Stewed tomatoes (with celery, peppers, & cumin OR with mexican spices)
- Provide 1 packages Brooks mild chili seasoning
- You need 1 garlic salt
- Use 1 onion powder
- Use 1 black pepper
- Provide pinch ground red pepper
- Get pinch ground cayenne pepper
- Use 1/2 tsp chili powder
- Use 3 tbsp sugar
Steps to make Award Winning Chili:
- In Dutch oven, brown ground beef and season with garlic salt, onion powder, & pepper
- Drain grease and put beef back in Dutch oven.
- In a medium size bowl, add stewed tomatoes (cut up in small pieces). Then add chopped green pepper and chopped onion. Mix together.
- Pour the stewed tomatoes/onion/green pepper in Dutch oven with the ground beef.
- Add the package of Brooks Mild chili seasoning and mix together.
- Before adding both cans of Brooks chili beans, dump out some of the sauce but not all.
- Season again with garlic salt, onion powder, and pepper. Then add the chili powder, ground red pepper, ground cayenne pepper, and sugar.
- Mix well.
- Bring to a boil and let simmer on low for 3 hours.
