- Use 1 cup Raw Rice
- Provide 3/4 cup Jaggery
- Use 2 tbsp Coconut Scrapped
- Get 2 tbsp Coconut Flakes

- Provide 2 tbsp Boiled Rice

- 1.Wash and soak rice for an hour and then grind it with cardamom,cumin,scraped coconut,baking soda,a pinch of salt and boiled rice with required water and prepare a smooth batter.
- .Boil the jaggery with 4-5 tbsp of water until dissolved.Strain and then add to the batter.Mix well and keep aside.
- 3.Now heat a small pressure cooker(3 ltr)and add a tbsp of ghee.Fry the coconut flakes and sliced shallots until golden brown.Take out some to sprinkle on top and leave the rest.
- 4.Now pour the prepared batter to the cooker and close the lid.Do not place the whistle.Cook on high flame for a minute and then reduce the flame to low and cook it for 10-12 minutes.Switch of the flame and rest until cool.
- 5.Now open the lid and insert a knife to check whether it's done or not.If the knife comes out clean your Kalathappam is ready.
